Heyyyy party people! Thanks for being here. š«¶
Just as the name of this newsletter suggests, I intend for every one of these to feel like a burst of confetti landing in your inbox. š
I hope that by the end of each edition, youāre a few sips deeper into your coffee (tea, or whatever the heck youāre drinking), feeling inspired, celebratedā¦and already dreaming bigger.
So, letās start with why I even started thisā¦
Well, a few reasons:
First off, I feel like I have a million things to say and want to experiment with, and something about this format (or lack of) feels freeing.
For nearly 4 years, I wrote a company newsletter for 5,000+ incredible founders and creatives. Since leaving that role, Iāve missed the process of writing in this way. š
I like writing beautiful, long-winded sentences once in a whileā¦with sprinkles of tiny details that add pure delight to the reading experienceā¦and LinkedIn isnāt quite set up for thatāand, often doesnāt feel like the right home for some stories.
Like most humans with newsletters, Iām afraid that if LinkedIn disappeared tomorrow, I donāt have a way to continue sharing my ideas with an established crew like you all.
BUT, the main reason isā¦
Iāve loved writing since I was 7 years old, and I want to do more of it.
At that age, I had a teacher who believed in me as a writer. So much so, that they hand-picked local and national writing competitions for me to apply toāopportunities I never wouldāve found on my own or even dreamt of.
Soon enough, I started winning awardsāand learned very early onā¦
When someone believes in you, it creates momentum.
Submission after submission, I started proving to myself (and others) that I could do the damn thing.
Through the support of many teachers, my incredible parents, and others, I learned at a ridiculously young age that⦠ā¬ļø
Who you surround yourself with expands what you believe is possible.
Instead of waiting for permission (or for someone else to design my future for me), I learned to intentionally surround myself with people whoād inspire me to grow. I learned to plant seeds in conversations (sharing ideas, ambitions, and even the kinds of people Iād love to meet) so others knew where I was heading.
And, to this day, I firmly believe dreaming is best as a shared experience. Weāre arenāt meant to dream in isolation.
Over the years, dreaming out loud, while building my identity capital, has compounded; Iāve drastically increased my surface area of luck and become far more opportunity-rich. š
Now, a huge part of my life and work is helping other people do the same.
Iām on a mission to help more people unlock the magic of ripple effects, weak ties, and dreaming out loud.
You 110% deserve to make your big dreams happen.
But, if your dreams stay locked up inside that amazing brain of yours, your chances of achieving them are much, much slimmer, my friend.
When I worked with Seth Godin, I fell in love with his framing around why people like you and me should share our work and creative ideas with the world.
He says (and Iām paraphrasing)ā¦
Keeping your ideas to yourself is a selfish act.
By not sharing, you might be taking away the opportunity for someone to benefit from what you have to say.
I agree. And, I think this concept can extend to your biggest hopes for the future. Sharing ideas can change someone elseās lifeāand so can sharing dreams.
Iām fueled by the idea that any one of you reading this might decide to pursue a dream because of something I share. š±
Sharing dreams is absolutely contagious.
So, here we are, and here I am doing the damn thing.
Welcome to a burst of confetti!
